Admission requirements

 

Bachelor programs: Visual Communication, Product-Design, Fashion-Design and Textil- and Material Design

All applicants are welcome if they fulfil the following admission prerequisites:

1 artistic aptitude, in the admission procedure is determined whether the applican thas  or an artistic talent or a required special artistic talent, the method consists of the pre-selection (through the portfolio with recent artistic works) and the entrance examination

2 qualification for entrance to German University that means a Higher
Secondary (School) certificate or alternatively special artistic aptitude (see above)

3 proof of German language proficiency: for example TestDaF 3, DSH 1, Telc B2 or the language proof from Goethe Institut (qualification level B2), at the time of enrollment in May at the latest.

4 proof of practical experiences in a study relevant field, 6-8 weeks internship for the Fashion-Design program, by beginning of the studies at the latest.

 

Fine art courses: Painting, Sculpture and Stage/Costume Design

All applicants are welcome if they fulfil the following admission prerequisites:
1 artistic aptitude, in the admission procedure is determined whether the applicant or the applicant has the required special artistic talent, the method consists of the pre-selection (through the portfolio with newer artistic works) and the entrance examination

2 qualification for entrance to German University that means a Higher Secondary (School) certificate or alternatively special artistic aptitude

Sculpture and painting:
Proof of sufficient German language skills: for example, the B2 examination certificate of the Goethe Institute or the UDK, telc B2, Testdaf 3, DSH 1, at the latest by the start of studies. Certificates are to be submitted in German or English and as officially certified copies.

Stage design:
Proof of sufficient German language skills: for example, Testdaf 4, DSH 2, telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, DSD II or the C1 examination certificate of the UDK or the Goethe Institute, no later than the start of studies.

Certificates must be submitted in German or English and as officially certified copies.

 

 

Master´s program: Visual Communication, Product-, Fashion and Textile and Material Design

Prerequisites for admission to the master's degree programs in design are:

1. a first professional university degree in a subject comparable to the chosen master's program with at least 240 credit points.

1a. Applicants with less than 240 credit points can be admitted through the artistic entrance examination and/or by crediting knowledge and skills acquired after the first university degree.

2. an artistic aptitude for the chosen master's degree program, a portfolio of artistic/design work, in particular student research projects as well as the final thesis

3. a detailed and reasoned master's proposal (master's project) in one of the department areas according to the specifications of the chosen course of study, consisting of 1-3 A4 pages.

4. for applicants from countries in which an Academic Examination Office (APS) is established, the certificate of the Examination Office.

5. for applicants who have not obtained their university entrance qualification at a German-speaking institution, German language skills at the C1 level.

Certificates are to be submitted in German or English and as officially certified copies.


 

 

 

Master´s program in spacial strategies

All applicants are welcome if they fulfil the following admission prerequisites:

1 Portfolio of recent artistic work

2 Evidence of academic and transdisciplinary ability in the form of a written statement (3–4 pages)
outlining the applicant’s academic goals and presenting a proposal for a project to be carried out
during the program

3 Certified proof of undergraduate degree

4 Proof of at least one year of work experience in a relevant field to the program, which was obtained after the first degree

5 Brief curriculum vitae

6 Application form with passport photograph

7 Proof that the applicant is at least 24 years old (copy of passport/government-issued ID)

8 Additional items for international applicants:
• Certified translation of the proof of undergraduate degree and the proof of work experience
• Proof of sufficient competence in written and spoken German: for example TestDaF 3, DSH 1 or the language proof from the UDK or Goethe Institut (qualification level B2) at the time of enrolment in January/February at the latest
• Copy of valid passport
• For Chinese, Vietnames and Mongolian applicants: APS certificate

 

 

Master´s program in art therapy

All applicants are welcome if they fulfil the following admission prerequisites:

1 A minimum of 3-year-old completed artistic, educational, psychological or medical college or university
of applied sciences or a equivalent foreign degree. In some cases it may also authorize other social
sciences and humanities subjects in the examination committee.

2 Evidence of artistic ability by submitting a portfolio of at least 20 recent works of the artistic activities
of the applicant.

3 Proof of a two years work experience in an area of mental health care, which may have been paid as a
part-time job. The proof or work experience gained after first university graduation must correspond to  one year  full-time work.

4 A CV with 2 passport photographs of recent date.

5 The minimum age of 25 years.

6 Additional items for international applicants:
• Certified translation of the proof of undergraduate degree and the proof of work experience
• Proof of sufficient competence in written and spoken German: for example TestDaF 4, DSH 2 or the language proof from the UDK or Goethe Institut (qualification level C1) at the time of enrolment in January/February at the latest
• Copy of valid passport
