Dear Prospective Students!

We are pleased that you are interested in studying at our academy.

The application process consists of two stages. In the first stage — the preliminary selection — you will submit a digital portfolio of your own artistic work.

If you are successful in the preliminary selection, you will be invited to the second stage. This involves a two-day entrance examination at the university.
 

IMPORTANT NOTE ON THE DESIGN OF THE PORTFOLIO

  • Information about the portfolio will be provided after you have registered and created your application in CampusCore.

  • Please read the message in CampusCore carefully, especially the attachment.  It contains all the detailed information you need.  

  • You then have until January 5 (12:00 noon) to submit your application. Instructions for the online application can be found further down on this page.
     


All applicants are welcome if they fulfil the following admission prerequisites:

1. Artistic aptitude, in the admission procedure is determined whether the applicant or the applicant has the required special artistic talent, the method consists of the pre-selection (through the portfolio with newer artistic works) and the entrance examination


2. Qualification for entrance to German University that means a Higher Secondary (School) certificate or alternatively special artistic aptitude.


3. For international applicants:
Proof of sufficient German language skills: for example, the B2 examination certificate of the Goethe Institute, telc B2, Testdaf 3, DSH 1, at the latest by the start of studies. Certificates are to be submitted in German or English and as officially certified copies.

The certificates must be submitted in German or English and as officially notarised copies at the time of admission in march.

Important steps in the APPLICATION PROCESS


1. Registration on the online application portal

  • APPLICATION PORTAL:
    https://cms.kh-berlin.de/login

  • First-time applicant? Then click on “Register,” create a user account, and follow the instructions. Then enter the activation code that will be sent to you by email. (Do not close the window so that the registration is not canceled.)

  • Already registered? Then log in with your existing credentials. Your username is your email address. 

IMPRORTANT NOTES

  • Use a larger screen, as the mobile version of CMS is unfortunately not user-friendly. 

  • Please note: Registration does not constitute an application. You must submit your application separately.

  • We recommend that you create your application early in order to clarify any questions and receive all information and instructions regarding the application documents. In the Fashion Design, Product Design, and Visual Communication programs, additional homework is assigned. You will receive this only after you have created an application.
     


2. Create application

  • Open the “Applications” tab in the online application portal and click on “Create” to create your application for the desired degree program.

NOTES

  • Applications can only be submitted within the application period. Start early to receive information about the application documents and clarify any questions.

  • Important: Do not click on ‘Exchange programme’. This is only relevant for Erasmus semesters.

  • You can also apply for several fields of study. The Student Advisory Service will be happy to advise you on this.


3. View important information about the required application documents

  • After submitting your application, you will receive all the information about the required documents by email and in the portal.

NOTE

For online applications in Fine Arts / Sculpture, a digital portfolio with your own artistic work are required. After creating your application, you will receive an email containing all the detailed information and instructions.

4. Add missing data

  • In the “Applications” tab, click “Edit” to add all the necessary data and supporting documents.

  • Save your changes.

  • You can see incomplete information in the “Overview” tab.

    FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS -Language proficiency information / APS certificate

  • At the time of application, international applicants must submit at least one language certificate at level A2. Please upload your most recent language certificate as a PDF file. Confirmation of the language course you are currently attending is also sufficient. >MORE INFO

  • Applicants from the People's Republic of China, Vietnam and India must include the original certificate confirming that the papers have been pre-checked by the Academic Evaluation Centre (APS). Please contact the respective APS office: -> China  -> Vietnam  -> India


5. Upload application documents

  • Upload all required documents in the “Application documents” tab by clicking on “Edit” and then on the upload icon.


6. Submit application

  • Submit your complete application within the application period.

NOTE

  • You can edit applications that have already been submitted within the application period by clicking on “Edit again.”



ARTISTIC ENTRANCE EXAMINATION – Feedback at the end of January

  • Admission to the entrance examination will be decided on the basis of your work.

  • Exact dates/times will be provided in your personal invitation letter via the online application portal.

  • The entrance examination comprises: creative and artistic tasks as well as an interview with the admissions committee about your portfolio, your professional development, and your motivation. 
     


Study programs at weissensee art academy berlin

The design departments: Fashion Design, Product Design, Textile and Material Design, and Visual Communication offer an eight-semester bachelor's degree program (240 ECTS). After completing this program, you can apply for the two-year master's degree program (120 ECTS). The diploma programs in fine arts, with the departments in painting, sculpture, and stage and costume design, have a standard duration of ten semesters, after which you will graduate with a diploma (300 ECTS).

All undergraduate programs begin with a one-year foundation course in art and design.
 


Fees

To enrol at weißensee school of art every student has to pay a fee of
358,80 €. This payment is due every semester (every half year) you study with us.

The fee includes the ticket for the local transport in Germany. No tuition fees are required for undergraduate programs!
