Thank you for your interest in our Art Therapy degree programme. Applications are always possible from 1 March to 1 September for the following summer semester.

Please note that admissions are only granted for the summer semester.

  • Der Nachweis über ein mindestens 3-jähriges abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium bzw. ein gleichwertiger internationaler Studienabschluss oder in Ausnahmefällen eine besondere berufliche Qualifizierung. Für Bewerber_innen ohne formalen Hochschulabschluss bestehen die Zulassungsvoraussetzungen aus einer beruflichen Qualifizierung mit anschließender, mindestens 5-jähriger und für den Studiengang Kunsttherapie relevanter Berufstätigkeit. siehe Zulassungsordnung.
  • Der Nachweis einer nach dem Hochschulabschluss erfolgten, in der Regel einjährigen Berufserfahrung. Diese kann gleichwertig auch in Teilzeit geleistet worden sein; insgesamt muss sie dann mindestens einem Jahr Vollzeitarbeit entsprechen. Die künstlerische Befähigung: Eine Mappe, in der mindestens 20 neuere Arbeiten der künstlerischen Tätigkeit der_s Bewerber_in enthalten sind, sowie ein schriftliches Statement - kurze Beschreibung zu den Entstehungszusammenhängen der Arbeiten und evtl. interpretierende Texte sowie ein Motivationsschreiben. siehe PDF Hinweise zur Mappe
  • Internationale Bewerber_innen müssen zudem einen Sprachnachweis entsprechend der abgeschlossenen Qualifikationsstufe C1 nachweisen. Zur Zulassung muss das Prüfungszertifikat: zum Beispiel Testdaf 4, DSH 2,Telc C1 Hochschule, oder der C1-Sprachnachweis des Goethe-Instituts eingereicht werden. Procedure of the application and admission process

Step 1:

Online application in the period from 1 March to 1 September via the Campuscore application portal (link available from 1 March).
This is followed by the review of your documents by the members of the Art Therapy Admission Committee.

Step 2:

Only applicants who pass the pre-selection will receive an invitation to the entrance examination end of September.
for the entrance examination and must send further documents by post in advance: an application form, your certificates and a bank transfer receipt for the fee of 150,- EUR for the entrance examination. Please do not send us any unsolicited documents!

Step 3:

Participation in the access exam:
Friday,/Saturday End of October at the Parkklinik, Berlin.

  • The original portfolio must be submitted as part of the entrance examination.

The procedure consists of a multi-part workshop:
Each applicant has to participate

  • in an interview with at least two lecturers

  • in a multi-part artistic procedure that shows whether he/she can develop the creativity necessary for art therapy.

Step 4:

Notification of the results of the entrance examination will be sent to applicants in November. If you are admitted, you will first receive the continuing education contract from Kunsttherapie Berlin, including the study plan. The contract must be signed and returned by January 15 at the latest. You will then receive the documents for enrollment at the weißensee kunsthochschule berlin via the application portal.

 


Tuition fees

Fees: € 5640 in the first year (€ 470  per month) and € 5880 each in the second and third year  (€490 per month) 
Degree: ‘Master of Arts’
Structure: 3-year part-time programme

Please Mind:
Plus each semester: 140,00 € administrative fees (registration or administration fee, social contribution, ASTA). Studying art therapy is a part-time programme. The Federal Training Assistance Act only supports full-time study or full-time training. Part-time students are therefore not eligible for BaföG.

Additional information for international applicants

  • The higher education entrance qualification and Bachelor's or university degree certificates must be recognised in Germany (anabin.de). International certificates must be submitted in German or English and as certified copies. If the certificates are not issued in German or English, an officially certified translation must also be submitted.

  • The certified translation in German or English of the degree certificate as well as the proof of professional practice.

  • Copy of valid passport (only for admission)

  • Language certificate level C1
    All applicants from Germany or abroad are treated equally in the application procedure, provided that international applicants can prove the required German language skills. (Exempt are German native speakers and those who can present a German Abitur or a German secondary school leaving certificate). At weißensee kunsthochschule berlin all courses and lectures are offered in German only. At the time of application, international applicants must provide proof of at least a language certificate corresponding to the completed qualification level B2.2. Please upload your most recent language certificate or a course confirmation from your current language course as a pdf file in the application portal. The examination certificate of the required level C1: for example DSH 2, TestDaF 4, Telc C1 Hochschule or C1 examination of the Goethe-Institut must be submitted for admission at the latest. in exceptional cases, we also accept a certificate of registration for the language examination or proof of a completed B2 course for admission.

  • Applicants from China/Vietnam/India are also required to submit the APS certificate.

  • Under specific circumstances, applicants who are unable to provide proof of their qualifications due to their flight can be granted a reduction in the requirement for proof of qualifications. The examination is carried out by the Department of Study Affairs.

  • Important information for applicants requiring a visa:
    The Master's degree programme in Art Therapy is designed as a part-time programme. It is therefore not possible to apply for or obtain a residence permit for study purposes (§16 b Residence Act).
