MA Art Therapy
Overview
The Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee, in cooperation with the Kunsttherapie Berlin, Kolleg für Weiterbildung und Forschung, has been offering the postgraduate master's programme in art therapy since the summer semester of 2005.
In art therapy, artistic material, pictures and sculptures as well as the artistic process itself are used to enable patients/clients to express experiences, thoughts, feelings and fantasies. With the application of these artistic processes and products, the patient/client is helped to perceive their previously hidden feelings, wishes, memories, problems, but also to recognise their abilities. In this way, art therapy can help to improve self-understanding, to explore one's own life and to try out modifications.
Admission requirements for the three-year part-time part-time programme are at least 3 years of completed artistic, educational, psychological or medical university studies or an equivalent international degree or, in exceptional cases, a special professional qualification, artistic aptitude, work experience in a social field equivalent to about one year of full-time work.
