Dear prospective students,

We are pleased that you are interested in one of our Master's degree programmes. The next application procedure is open from 1 March to 30 April. Applications are only possible for the winter semester. The application deadline for the winter semester 24/25 has already expired. 

We recommend that you inform yourself about the current >>admission regulations before applying for the Master's programme at the Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin.

1 Digital portfolio as PDF file (max. 20MB and max. 30 pages).
Web links are not accepted! For external applicants, the presentation of the Bachelor's thesis or the final thesis is especially important.

2 Proof of previous academic achievements or degrees (transcript of records).

3 Proof of a first university degree with professional qualification in a subject comparable to the chosen master's degree program
with at least 240 credit points or a current study documentation, if you are still in the Bachelor process.

3.1 Applicants with less than 240 CP have the possibility to prove the required competence level of 240 CP. Add here all additional qualifications in the study-relevant field to your application, such as work experience, internships, freelance activities, projects as well as trainings acquired after the first university degree.

3.2 If you cannot provide evidence of additional qualifications, you will undergo a separate examination.

6  Proof of language proficiency - International applicants should provide proof of language proficiency at qualification level B1/B2 at the time of application; please upload the most recent language certificate or a course confirmation in pdf format. The examination certificate must be submitted for admission: e.g. Testdaf 4, DSH 2, telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule, DSD II, C1 examination certificate from the Goethe-Institut.

Applicants from India, Vietnam and the People's Republic of China: Certificate from the Akademische Prüfstelle(APS). Please contact the Academic Evaluation Centre (APS) of the German Embassy in good time before applying.

Please note:
All required certificates and documents can be uploaded in the original or in the form of an officially certified translation in German or English. We only require the notarised documents in paper form for admission in July.
 

After reviewing the uploaded documents, those applicants whose submitted documents/portfolio show artistic aptitude for the desired field of study will receive an invitation to the entrance examination/interview (approx. 4-5 weeks after the application deadline).

The admission interviews take place on site at the end of June/beginning of July. Online interviews may also be possible for international applicants.
Admission is decided by the department's admissions committee on the basis of artistic aptitude (portfolio), the Master's proposal, the presentation interview and previous academic and examination achievements.

Your documents in paper form (certified copies) will only be requested after you have passed the admission test.
 

Anfang Juni erhalten Sie eine Einladung oder ein Ablehnungsbescheid von uns. Die Zulassungskommission entscheidet auf Grund der präsentierten künstlerischen Arbeiten, der Masterthesis und des Auswahlgespräches (Zeitraum Ende Juni-Mitte Juli), ob die Zugangsprüfung für den gewünschten Master-Studiengang bestanden ist.

The Fine Arts programs (Painting, Sculpture and Stage & Costume) at weissensee school of art are diploma degree programs and have a duration of 5 years.We do not have Masters programs in Fine Arts. If you wish to continue your studies at weissensee, it is possible to apply as a transfer student (Hochschulwechsel) and if you are accepted, you will be placed in a higher semester. Tuition fees are not charged. There is a contribution of about 300€ per Semester, administration fee, social contribution, ASTA and the semester ticket for public transport in Berlin (ABC).
