seekicks

From September 2020 to March 2025, seekicks was an experimental platform for new qualities of innovation and entrepreneurship and new skills at the weissensee school of art and design. At seekicks, we view art and design as transformative practices that shape our world.

Relevant formats included awareness-raising and professional development opportunities, the start-up studio, workshops on the topic of “transformative, creative practice,” and start-up and innovation consulting. The project was funded by EXIST-Potentiale “Potentiale heben,” a program of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.

Seekicks' courses are continued by the Theory & History department and in individual modules in other departments

Open Art Academy

In collaboration with boesner Berlin, a retailer of professional materials for artists, the Open Art Academy took place annually from 2012 to 2023 with the aim of combining contemporary artistic production with a spirit of experimentation for a broad audience. Each year, graduates were able to apply with their own educational concepts and offer weekend workshops for art and design enthusiasts aged 16 and over as part of the Open Art Academy. The venue was the Kunsthalle am Hamburger Platz, where workshops on topics such as 3D drawing, calligraphy, the production of Prussian blue, and the use of artists' materials took place.

Since 2024, the cooperation format with Modulor GmbH / boesner has been redesigned. Information will be published in due course.
