Seamless Transitions
This interdisciplinary project course explores the boundaries between the haptic and tactile physical world and the digital world of information, seeking for possibilities of seamless transitions between the two. Currently these two worlds are divided rather abruptly by their states, locations or materials. What kind of design strategies can we apply to overcome this gap? What kind of new forms of interaction can we introduce to smoothen the integration? What kind of concepts will bring us to new hybrids?
The course encourages students to explore the theme in experimental manner and develop functioning prototypes as a part of their experiments.
As a part of the course, we will look into the techniques and materials of eTextiles as it provides unique materiality and tactility in electronics objects. Students who are interested in eTextiles, soft electronics, wearable technologies are also invited to take the course.
This project will take place in collaboration with BMW.
