Workspaces / Studios
As part of the see up graduate network, weißensee kunsthochschule berlin has been offering studio spaces at favourable conditions at Liebermannstraße 75-83 since July 2018. Located close to the art academy, the workspaces in three open-plan studios are available to graduates and master students from all disciplines.
A jury consisting of representatives from the liberal arts, design, the mart stam stiftung für kunst + gestaltung, the management of the weißensee kunsthochschule berlin, the BBK studio advisory board, the GSE and the cultural administration selects candidates for the positions from the applicants. The award is initially made for one year and can be extended.
Space of around 20 square metres can be rented for around 165 euros (excluding electricity, incl. Wi-Fi, heating, use of communal areas such as kitchen, lifts, toilets), depending on the application situation and number of users. All graduates of the weißensee school of art and design berlin can apply up to three years after graduation.
Studio stipends
The studio stipends are awarded in the course of the selection process of the see Up Workspaces.
If a special financial situation and need can be established, a subsidy towards the studio rent can be granted after examination. These studio stipends are provided by the mart stam stiftung für kunst + gestaltung and the khb.

The guidelines of the university procedures for the allocation of a subsidised studio space in Liebermannstraße ‘see up Workspaces’ were published in Mitteilungsblatt Nr. 251.
Die Bewerbungsphase 2024 fand im Juni statt. Die neue Ausschreibung wird im Frühjahr 2025 an dieser Stelle bekanntgegeben.
DesignFarm – Design in Tech Accelerator
The Design-Farm supports students and graduates who plan to establish a start-up with their design ideas. For a period of 3-9 months, student can receive funding of 2000 Euros per month as well as a tailor-made mentoring program. Application requirements and deadlines are available on the program’s website. EXIST-Start-up Grants
The EXIST Business Start-up Grant supports students and graduates who want to turn their business idea into a business plan with a fellowship to secure their living expenses. The start-up projects should be innovative technology or knowledge based projects with significant unique features and good commercial prospects of success. Applications from weißensee have been successful. weißensee academy of art berlin has been part of the EXIST network since 2017. Applications can be submitted at any time.

Elsa-Neumann-Stipend NaföG – Berlin Funding for Graduates
Elsa-Neumann-Stipend NaföG – Berlin Funding for Graduates
Once a year, a commission awards stipends to graduates with artistic degrees with outstanding achievements. The stipends are meant to aid in the development of artistic projects and are offered for the disciplines fine arts, music, and performing arts. Stipends of 1000 Euros per month (plus 103 Euros for materials) are awarded for one year. The coordinating office for all Berlin higher education institutions for the fine and performing arts is at UdK.
