Poroform untersucht Schaum als struk-
turelles Prinzip, dessen Eigenschaften
sich bereits während der Entstehung
modulieren lassen.
Während herkömmliche Polsterun-
gen aus Polyurethan-Schäumen auf
schwer recycelbaren Verbundsystemen
beruhen, entwickelt das Projekt ein
nachhaltiges Monomaterial-System
mit variierender Porosität – und damit
gezielt einstellbarem Materialverhalten.
Ein robotischer Demonstrator
extrudiert vorgeschäumtes Gel und
platziert Mikroblasen präzise in der
Bauteilgeometrie.

Poroform investigates foam as a
structural principle whose properties
can be modulated during its formation.
While conventional cushioning made
from polyurethane foams relies on
composite systems that are difficult to
recycle, the project develops a
sustainable mono-material system with
varying porosity – and thus tunable
performance.
A robotic fabrication setup extrudes
pre-foamed gel, placing microbubbles
precisely within the component geometry.
