Unfolded, zoom in — zoom out
This work reflects on translation and what happens when you go from one medium to another, exploring what gets lost and what is gained through the process.
The folds and creases of textiles, the intricate pattern of lace in a 19th century painting. Textiles in old paintings shows a sense of grace and new meaning to the object that is depicted. This work reflects on this phenomenon and utilises textiles as a tool for storytelling. Documenting the ordinary, zooming in on each detail, painting it, reworking it into pixels, weaving it and ending up with something new.
These two woven panels suggests a way of looking at textiles that encourages you to take a step closer, slowing down.
