Current Status 06 –07–2024 – If a computer is properly trained, it could make no more mistakes. However, errors are still frequently observed. This semester (SoSe2024), I started generating interesting starting points for my project by prompting the computer with nonsensical inputs. For this research, I focused on luma.genie, a free web tool for creating 3D models. This tool has the advantage of not being as „error-free“ as other major tools, particularly well-known image generators. Luma.genie was well-suited for finding ways to make the tool generate meaningful content despite nonsensical inputs. I also played a lot with the principle: „AI rarely admits when it doesn‘t know.“ After some time of research, I translated the project into an installation that allows visitors to look into a distorted world. The installation includes everyday objects from the learning process, topographic innovations, and developments of ideas, as well as a simulated operating system for interaction. It serves as a time document of machine learning.
