What makes an archive? What do we find in archives? Who has access to archives? Who is excluded? Whose knowledge is stored? Which narratives are preserved incompletely or not at all? Why do we store information? For whom? What interests are behind the selection criteria? Which social paradigms are reflected in the archive material? Are archives for eternity? If there is no one left to remember, for whom do we store our knowledge?

 

Questioning the Archive analyzes familiar concepts of the archive. The project focuses on the archive’s end and possibilities to unlearn common definitions aiming for a different understanding of the archive as we know it.
