EQUUS / BA / SS21 / Tjorven Volkenborn

In ihrer Bachelor-Kollektion „EQUUS“ bearbeitete Madita Tjorven Volkenborn ihren lebenslangen Bezug zum Reitsport und bediente sich einer Muse, Caroline von Hannover, welche sie an starke Frauen in ihrer Familie erinnert. Die Eleganz, die sie mit diesem Sport verbindet, setzt die Designerin in ihren Entwürfen durch den Einsatz hochwertiger Materialien, die Kombination von hellen, harmonischen Farben und Mustern, sowie durch eine aufwändige Verarbeitung und klare Linienführung um. Da das Thema Reitsport ein naturverbundenes ist, ist die Kollektion durch die Wahl von natürlichen Textilien mit fast ausschließlich reiner Naturfaser und wenigen Mischgeweben nachhaltig konzipiert. Ein Großteil der Kollektion wurde mit Leftover- und Deadstock-Materialien hergestellt, die Verwendung von Knöpfen als einziger Verschlussart macht die Kleidungsstücke einfach recyclingfähig. Reiten stellt für die Designerin Natürlichkeit und Selbstverständlichkeit, Freude und Eleganz dar. Die Kollektion ist die gestalterische Interpretation dieser Bedeutung.

In her Bachelor collection “EQUUS”, Madita Tjorven Volkenborn worked on her lifelong connection to equestrian sports and used a muse, Caroline von Hannover, who reminds her of strong women in her family. The elegance she associates with this sport is translated into her designs by the use of high-quality materials, the combination of bright, harmonious colours and patterns, as well as elaborate craftmanship and clear lines. As the theme of equestrian sports is one that is close to nature, the collection is designed to be sustainable through the choice of natural textiles with almost exclusively pure natural fibres and a few mixed fabrics. A large part of the collection was made with leftover and deadstock materials, and the use of buttons as the only type of closure makes the garments easily recyclable. For the designer, riding represents naturalness and self-evidence, joy and elegance. The collection is the design interpretation of this meaning.
